You'll need:

  • a pair of trousers;
  • a scissor;
  • a sewing machine;
  • black sewing thread;
  • an elastic band;
  • an iron;
  • patience;
1. Cut straight through a pair of trousers turning it into some biker shorts, which you can wear later with or without the skirt.
2. Cut the seam of the other half carefully, so that you end up with a rectangle when opened. Do not cut the previous seams on the bottom, there's no need.
3. Iron the two pieces and use the iron to mark the pleats on both sides as well. This will help you sew without using any pins.
4. After sewing, repeat the last process on the waist, leaving space for the elastic band. Sew the beginning of the elastic under the pleat and then close it up (don't sew the band, make sure it is loose underneath).
5. In the end try the skirt on and mark where it fits you and where to sew the end of the elastic. After sewing it you're ready to wear it!

It's really easy, you just need some creativity, time and patience. Now I'll figure out how to wear mine, do it yourself too!
I hope you liked it, tell me what you think.

Coat - Vintage (stolen from my mom) / Sweater - Wesc / Trousers - Zara / Oxford Shoes - Eureka

     I'm really sorry for the bad quality photos! My camera isn't working properly, but I'll try to fix the problem before the next post.
     What do you think about the look, though? Did it work?

    This collection was presented today during the Milan Fashion Week and I really liked it, although it wasn't as clean as some previous collections (Lacoste and Rad Hourani for example).
    On the negative side I wasn't in love with the shape of the clear sunglasses and the shinning polka dot.
    Now on the positive one, the shapes and perfectly tailored coats, dresses, jumpers and A-Shaped skirts were divine and sophisticated, such as the boots. The pop of bright red in an almost white monochromatic look was an intelligent and bold choice as well. Once again we saw some color blocking in the jumpers, one of them (white and wine coloured) was actually different in each sleeve.
    One of the white jackets reminded me of mine from Zara (the beloved minimal coat) and I'm considering buying a clean, wide belt to copy this effect on skirts.
    Overall not my favourite collection, but definitely a good and consistent one.

Cap - H&M / Oversized Tunic - Zara / Dress - H&M / Sneakers - Miguel Vieira (Vintage) / Leather Backpack - Harley-Davidson (Vintage)

       (Last) First day of school and I'm struggling to get used to all the routine again. Probably I won't be updating the blog daily, but I'll make an effort. Meanwhile here's what I wore for school today, I'm hoping you like it and give me some feedback please. Btw. both the sneakers and the backpack were from my mom!

    Every year I change my A2 art folder, because buying a new one is too expensive. This year I decided to change from black to white in order to identify my portfolio quicker among all the other black ones. Certainly almost no one will have it in white monochrome. It only took some patience to paint it and two spray cans from Leroy Merlin (10€). My folder looks new and has a great visual impact. Recycle your school material, you'll not regret it!

    These sneakers are older than me! I discovered them yesterday by accident while searching through some old shoes in the garage (I was clearly bored). My mom told me she wore them while pregnant with me. They were also pretty expensive since they are from Miguel Vieira (a portuguese fashion designer) and they still look modern. I have a lot of ideas for some new outfits featuring these sneakers, tomorrow I'll post one of them!

   The best SS '13 rtw NYFW collection! Also the most intricate and cohesive one. Keywords: tailoring, layers, androgyny, color blocking, monochrome, sporty, minimal.  This is only a sneak peek of what you can see here
   I couldn't really choose a favorite look or piece, because I'd wear everything, both men and womenswear (if such difference exists for Rad). He's always so clean, harmonious and effortless in the way he designs all the separate pieces and puts them together. It's wearable and it's what we want to have in our wardrobe: separates! Not to mention the perfect color palette, shoes, coats, biker shorts, etc. Take a look!

Coat - Zara / Dress - All Saints / Shoes - Marques' Almeida for Eureka

Monday, September 10, 2012

You can find them here or in any Marc by Marc Jacobs store, as I did today, unfortunately. For the first time I found a pair that I like and guess what? They're too expensive for me to buy them, but if you can please do!

I'm not a 100% convinced about this collection, maybe because he tried too hard and did too much. You can't let yourself be controlled by a concept or idea, you have to be able to know when to stop and say «enough». For me Alexander kind of lost control of the collection and ended up with too much information, too many things going on at the same time and a lack of cohesion. I did like some looks, the colors, the clean sandals and the end of the show, though. The dresses and the cut out, clear details have a great impact, such as the monochromatic outfits and the oversized white shirts at the beginning. I also found the matching, central stripe on the hair futuristic, as well as the collection, which ended up with that feeling to it. The lights made the outfits glow in the dark and elevated the collection to another level. Not as good as Felipe's, but still one of the best so far and a proof that sporty, black and white, minimal, monochrome and chic are stronger than ever.

And of course leather will be our second skin.

I'm truly proud of our portuguese fashion designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista, currently working for Lacoste. I expected a great collection, but I never thought I'd love it so much! I just went crazy with all the shapes, perfect cuts, intelligent and original color blocking (one of his signatures), amazing shoes, hair and makeup, styling, scenario... everything was just the perfect combination. Even the fanny packs! As a friend of mine said «He even made fanny packs look cool and elegant.» Who would have thought? He combined effortless chic with a sporty and minimalistic touch. The whole collection looks flawless, even the patterns, which I normally dislike, look great. The collection is consistent and has an enormous diversity, not to mention the tasteful color palette and those clean and clear shirts and jackets. Simply to die for. This is a revolution for Lacoste again. Monochrome, clean, minimal, sporty and chic came to stay! I'm ecstatic.

Cap - H&M / Dress - Zara / Sneakers - Converse (All Star) / Clutch - Vintage / Leather Bracelet - Salsa / Rings and Bracelets - Vintage

Two years ago I bought purple Dr. Martens, my first pair, but back then they fitted in my wardrobe. Nowadays they don't really match my color palette, so I decided to ask a shoemaker to paint them in black for only 10€. Here they are, looking perfect!

T-Shirt - Next/ Sweat Shorts - Switcher (D.I.Y.) / Shoes - Marques' Almeida (in Eureka)

Today I decided to try something new, something I never dared to wear: white monochrome. I created a look, which is a mix of sporty and clean. I'm very pleased with the result and I'm definitely going to do it again soon. Try it as well!

You'll need a pair of sweatpants (this ones were an old pair of mine, sadly they were too short) and a scissor. Mark the length you want your shorts to have and then cut them straight out.

Done. Easy.

High-waisted jeans - Bershka/ Sandals - Filipe Sousa for Eureka

Sunglasses - Ray-Ban Wayfarer/ T-Shirt - Next/ Bag - Stradivarius/ Tracksuit pants - Zara/ Shoes - Marques' Almeida

I always thought white shoes were horrible, so I never expected to find and buy this pair. I have to admit, I fell in love with them immediately and I knew I had to buy them, although they were expensive. Therefore I waited until Eureka was on Sales (50% off) and purchased them for half of the original price. Here they are, my Marques' Almeida clean and monochromatic shoes.
